Minimum Qualifications Currently in title of Head Recreation Therapist and eligible for transfer OR Currently on the Civil Service list for the title Head Recreation Therapist and have a reachable score.


Provisional appointments will be only considered if we do not have qualified applicants as listed above. Provisional Quals: One (1) year of permanent service as a Senior Recreation Therapist (including parenthetics)

Duties Description As a Head Recreation Therapist, the incumbent will serve as the Director of Recreational Services and will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the Department including but not limited to: the supervision of staff; assurance of continuity of services to all residents; ensuring all necessary regulatory paperwork is completed timely and appropriately; plan, develop, implement, direct and evaluate all recreation therapy programs; responsible for recreational therapy goal setting, policy development and resource acquisition. Head Recreation Therapists are the top level professionals in the Recreation Therapy title series.

Additional Comments Salary includes base salary and annual downstate adjustment. Condition of Provisional appointment: Candidate hired on a Provisional basis will be required to pass a qualifying Civil Service exam in the future and be immediately reachable for appointment on the resulting eligible list to maintain employment.
