Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications 1. Four years of experience performing engineering technician work in aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, or sanitary engineering technology; environmental technology; or as a surveyor or drafter; OR
2. Graduation from high school (or possession of a high school equivalency diploma issued by a recognized educational authority or a USAFI GED diploma - high school level) AND one year of the experience described in option 1 above; OR
3. Graduation from a high school technical education program in technical aeronautics, technical architectural drafting and building construction, technical chemistry, industrial chemistry, technical electricity/electronics, technical mechanical design and construction, technical structural drafting and design, technical instrumentation and control systems, or computer circuitry; OR
4. Eighteen college semester credit hours in any combination of the following courses: engineering; such as civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical, aeronautical, and/or sanitary; public health; environmental and/or engineering technology; drafting; mathematics; surveying; computer science; environmental science; and/or the natural and physical sciences. YOU MUST SUBMIT A LIST OF QUALIFYING COURSES WITH YOUR APPLICATION. Include the course title, number of semester credit hours per course, name of college or university, and date (or expected date) of completion. Applications submitted without a list of relevant courses will be disapproved.
Duties Description The incumbent will assist with various oversight activities associated with the Department’s existing extended producer responsibility (EPR) laws for electronic waste, rechargeable batteries, and mercury thermostats. Specific duties will include assisting with the various data management activities associated with the Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act, including, but not limited to, data input, review, and verification; assisting in the preparation of required program reports; assisting with future rulemaking activities associated with existing product stewardship laws; researching potential EPR legislation in the state for future products including, but not limited to packaging & printed paper, carpeting, mattresses, single-use batteries, EV batteries, smoke detectors, e-cigarettes/vape pens, tires, compressed gas cylinders, solar panels, and HHW; conducting outreach to the various stakeholders of the state’s existing product stewardship laws; and monitoring and responding to telephone and shared e-mailbox inquiries, providing clear guidance to persons on existing stewardship programs.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
This is a part-time, hourly position funded through 3/31/2023. Program needs and/or funding will determine the actual termination date of the position which may be prior to the date indicated here. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.
