Minimum Qualifications Required Education:

Duties Description The Appointments Officer will carry out duties related to the appointment and/or nomination of candidates to all boards, councils, and commissions. This role requires the Appointments Officer to interact with entities at the Local, State, and National levels and requires a high degree of communication skills, confidentiality, and ability to learn and conduct complex interactions between executive-level entities with a high degree of external visibility.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Act as a point of contact in the New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service for issues, questions and policies related to Governor appointed boards, commissions, and councils
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records regarding the status of membership on boards, commissions, and councils and track vacant seats and expired terms
• Evaluate and update data management processes as necessary
• Review NYS statutes, executive orders, and other documents to ascertain the purpose, personnel, membership requirements, and member responsibilities of the various boards, commissions, and councils
• Identify qualified candidates for potential appointment or recommendation to boards, commissions, and councils
• Contact candidates to obtain contact information and send required paperwork necessary for the background check
• Update legislative personnel and agencies on the status of appointments, nominations, and confirmations
• Prepare official correspondence regarding actions taken regarding boards, commissions, and councils
• Works on special assignments as directed
