Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, communications, behavioral health, public policy, or a related field, AND four years of experience working to address health and/or social disparities to advance health equity. Experience may include work promoting health equity through planning and/or program development activities; developing and/or maintaining community partnerships; and/or developing organizational policies and/or practices related to health equity. One of the four years must have been at a supervisory level.

Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree in a related field (e.g., social work, communications, public health, behavioral health, public policy); with direct experience in diversity and inclusion, and/or organizational development. Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills; Experience presenting to and facilitating conversations with diverse audiences; Demonstrated competence with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word).

Duties Description The Vaccine Equity Coordinator is a leadership position that serves as a coordinator and liaison between the New York State Department of Health and federal governmental agencies and other stakeholders. The Vaccine Equity Coordinator will manage and coordinate health equity policy, planning and implementation activities for the COVID-19 Vaccination Program including, but not limited to: Serve as the focal point for equity work and work with Community Based Organization’s (CBO’s) within the Vaccine Program; Support development and implementation of policies, strategies, or programs to advance racial equity; Integrate strategies to advance health equity and racial justice throughout public health efforts; Foster stronger partnerships with other areas of the Department, CBOs, faith-based organizations, and community partners and stakeholders; Work with CBO’s and other organizations to identify barriers to vaccination among populations and identify and implement strategies to mitigate the barriers; Develop health equity resources on diversity, equity, and inclusion and conduct internal staff training to educate internal departments and programs on health and vaccine equity; Develop inventory of all health and vaccine equity activities implemented at the program, state, local, and community level. Manage program evaluation and monitoring plan of all vaccine equity activities for state and federal progress reports.
