Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences and one year of professional research experience in an appropriate field.

Substitution: 30 graduate hours leading to an advanced degree in an appropriate field may be substituted for the required experience.

Preferred Qualification: Bachelors degree in biology, chemistry or related science degree.

Duties Description The Assistant Research Scientist will provide clinical case follow-up; communicate with external stakeholders regarding abnormal screen results; document incoming correspondence and manage cases appropriately based on new information received; perform case follow-up for cases with abnormal results and/or poor quality specimens; close cases with appropriate outcomes; review clinical outcome data for accuracy and completeness; and analyze clinical outcome data to contribute to refinement of test algorithms. Additionally, the Assistant Research Scientist will prepare outgoing mail correspondence; answer phone calls to Newborn Screening call center; and respond to email inquiries from parents and medical staff.
