Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

70.4 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS: A NYS employee with at least one year of permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to salary grade 11 or higher and a passing score on the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) Select and:

• a bachelor's degree or higher in economics; OR
• a bachelor's degree or higher including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in economics and an additional 6 semester credit hours from among the following course work areas: computer science, economics, econometrics, mathematics, operations research, research methods, or statistics.

Applicants for 70.4 transfer must provide college transcripts which document how they meet the above-referenced educational requirements. In order to be considered for 70.4 transfer, all transfer criteria referenced above must be met.

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES: Under the direction of higher-level management, you would collect, prepare, analyze and disseminate data used by the Department of Labor’s Division of Research and Statistics. This may include data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Cooperative Programs, Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) operations, the Bureau of the Census as well as other sources. Responsibilities include creating and using databases for the collection, analysis and manipulation of employment, economic and program data; conducting database and internet queries to collect and analyze information; managing subordinate staff in the above activities; developing applications to edit, validate and conduct analysis of data; adhere to quality control and editing procedures in the collection and analysis of economic information and sample data; developing and presenting reports on labor market and program data using tabular, graphic, oral and narrative means; producing and validating UI related management reports; and responding to requests for information from within and outside the Labor Department.
