Minimum Qualifications Temporary Assistance Specialist 1 (SG-18):

Eligible for a lateral transfer or eligible for a 70.1 transfer by having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title;

OR

Temporary Assistance Specialist Trainee 1 (NS=SG-13):

Eligible for a lateral transfer or eligible for a 70.1 transfer by having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title;

OR

Temporary Assistance Specialist Trainee 2 (NS=SG-14):

Eligible for a lateral transfer or eligible for a 70.1 transfer by having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title;

OR

Reachable on the appropriate eligible list in Albany.

Duties Description This Temporary Assistance Specialist 1 (G18) position is located in the Contract Management and Quality Assurance Bureau (CMQA) within the Employment and Income Support Programs Area (EISP) of the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA).
Under the direction of a Temporary Assistance Specialist 2, the incumbent will assume a primary role in the following:
• Assist in the development and management of EISP/CMQA contracts and programs, including developing program plans, funding appropriations, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs);
• Negotiate contracts to ensure services are rendered in a cost-effective and high-quality manner to low-income New Yorkers throughout the state;
• Execute contracts including taking steps to receive approval from Legal, Budget and Contract staff;
• On-site monitoring of social services districts and/or OTDA contractors to ensure services are being delivered consistent with State and federal requirements; and
• Supporting central office in a number of special projects required to fulfill the agency’s goals.

Additional Comments A full-time permanent or contingent-permanent appointment will be made. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title. This position requires up to 30% travel.

Salary for Trainee 1 starts at $46,529
Salary for Trainee 2 starts at $49,202
