Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Minimum qualifications:
Reachable for appointment to Trainee 1 level from current Civil Service eligible list used for filling this title; or one year of permanent, competitive class service as a Human Resources Specialist 1; or one year of permanent, competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Examples of eligible titles include, but are not limited to: Administrative Specialist 1, Contract Management Specialist 1, Senior Administrative Analyst.

Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1 or 2: Reachable for appointment on current Civil Service eligible list used for filling this title, or one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Examples of eligible titles include but are not limited to: Administrative Assistant 1/2, Program Aide, Office Assistant 3, Office Assistant 3 (Calculations), Office Assistant 3 (Human Resources).

Duties Description Under the direction of the agency Associate Director HR, the incumbent to this position will primarily complete tasks in accordance with the agency's Human Resources/Time and Attendance Unit.
Duties will include:
- Processing NYSTEP transactions; processing and monitoring employees' extended leaves;
- Qualifying, calculating, and managing FMLA and sick leave at half pay;
- Backup for LATS Administrator;
- Monitor email and fax inboxes;
- Answer attendance and leave inquiries and redirect in a timely manner;
- Assist with special Admin projects;
- And other human resources duties as assigned.

Additional Comments NYSIF has a telecommuting program.
