Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must currently be a permanent Office Assistant 2;
OR
2. Must be active and reachable on the Civil Service Eligible List for Office Assistant 2;
OR
• Must be Eligible for 70.1 transfer in a designated title determined by the New York State Department of Civil Service (must also be within 2 grades of targeted title). Must take a performance exam to demonstrate keyboarding skills, if you have not held an Office Assistant 1 position.
OR
3. Qualified for Provisional Appointment to an Office Assistant 2 Keyboarding.

Minimum Qualifications for Provisional Appointment:

Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one-year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:
• Either A. as a Data Entry Machine Operator, Data Entry Machine Operator (Spanish Language), Keyboard Specialist 1, Keyboard Specialist 1 (Chinese Language), Keyboard Specialist 1 (Spanish Language), Law Department Document Specialist Trainee 1 or Trainee 2, Office Assistant 1-Keyboarding, Office Assistant 1-Keyboarding (Chinese Language) or Office Assistant 1-Keyboarding (Spanish Language).

• Or B. in an office assistant or clerical title allocated to Grade 5 or higher.

Only the titles listed are qualifying for these examinations. Service in a direct care title is not qualifying experience. Examples of non-qualifying titles are: Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, Direct Support Assistant, Food Service Worker 1, Licensed Practical Nurse, Mental Health Therapy Aide, Security Services Assistant, and Youth Division Aide.
IMPORTANT: For option B above, candidates who pass the written test, prior to being considered for appointment, may be required to pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates your ability to enter text using an alpha numeric computer keyboard, at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.

NOTE: Provisional appointments will only be considered if there are insufficient In-Title and/or Civil Service List candidates.

Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Talent Development & Training Unit plays an integral role within the OPWDD framework. By providing training to employees, who provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The unit provides staff with the necessary training and development activities needed to perform their jobs with the highest level of effectiveness and efficiency. Talent Development & Training staff work hard towards the goal of ensuring that all OPWDD employees have the skills and supports they need to help individuals with developmental disabilities live richer lives.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Office Assistant 2 responsibilities may include:

• Serve as SLMS Secondary administrator: set up classes, enter data, retrieving information, etc.
• Manage filing system for employee records and training documentation.
• Use Excel spreadsheets to collect and maintain training records.
• Assist Training staff in maintaining training material.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
