Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-11 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications:
• The ability to compile reports, charts, or graphs that describe and interpret findings of analysis;
• The ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in verbal and written communications; and,
• The ability to provide leadership and to maintain professional relationships with law enforcement agencies at the federal, state, and local levels as well as the courts.

Duties Description The Program Aide will provide technical support to higher level professional staff, which includes:

• Conduct research, analysis, and problem solving with respect to the initiatives overseen by the Office of Criminal Justice Records, which will require the incumbent to have an understanding of criminal history record information;
• Monitor and evaluate criminal history record information for deficiencies and assist in correcting problems. Monitor and prioritize criminal history exceptions using the Exception Tracking System (ETS). Determine the most suitable correction to improve the criminal history record based on knowledge of the criminal justice process, criminal procedural law and superior and appellate court decisions;
• Collect and analyze ETS statistics to determine category, volume and trends of exceptions. Evaluate data being collected to determine reliability and usability as well as provide recommendations for the type of information needed for improved analysis;
• Utilize ETS to assess the scope and magnitude of the errors being submitted to DCJS and work with supervisors to develop action plans to proactively address these problems;
• Effectively communicate with police departments, district attorneys, courts and the FBI to ensure the criminal history record is updated accurately;
• Prepare and analyze the relationships and trends in data reported by ETS to help advise supervisors of possible system defects and data quality improvements; and,
• Document as is processes and, based on analysis of statistic and trends gathered from ETS, develop recommendations for more efficient, to be processes. Assist in the development of performance metrics for process monitoring.
