Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Administrative Specialist 1, SG-18: Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c service in a title SG-16 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.
Administrative Specialist Trainee: Reachable on the current PATT or PCO eligible list; OR one year of permanent service in a title allocated to G-11 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer; OR to qualify for a 70.4 transfer, one year of service in a title allocated to SG-11 or higher and a bachelor’s degree in addition to a current or past standing on the PATT, PCO, PCT or PMI eligible lists.
Duties Description The Administrative Specialist 1/Trainee will be assigned to the Office of Youth Justice (OYJ) and will report to the Chief of Policy and Implementation. The Administrative Specialist 1/Trainee will provide general administrative support to OYJ’s professional staff. Additional duties will include, but will not be limited to, preparing OYJ’s annual budget and reconciling expenditures; maintaining procurement and travel records, and processing travel vouchers; facilitating and procuring several annual training programs on various topics including implicit bias, racial and ethnic disparities, and restorative practices; liaising with Human Resources to assist with the recruitment, interview, and onboarding processes; ensuring new and existing staff’s hardware and software needs are met; attending and taking meeting notes for the Juvenile Justice Advisory (JJAG) meetings; maintaining training records and shared documents for OYJ staff; and special assignments as instructed by the Deputy Commissioner and the Chief of Policy and Implementation.
