Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Provisional Opportunity: In the event that there is not a valid eligible list, candidates who meet the following promotion or open-competitive qualifications may be qualified for a provisional appointment.

Promotional Qualifications: You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive or non-competitive service (including 55-b/c service) as:

Either A. Transportation Supervisor 2 or Tractor Trailer Dispatcher;

Or B. Head Mail and Supply Clerk or Head Stores Clerk.

Open-Competitive Qualifications: You must have:
Either 1. six years of experience as an assistant manager of a multi-product warehouse consisting of at least 40,000 square feet or a centralized mail center. You must have had direct responsibility for the shipping and receipt of products via company-owned or leased vehicles and drivers employed by the company (not common carrier). One year of this experience must have included supervising warehouse staff;

Or 2. an associate degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or warehouse management AND four years of experience as an assistant manager of a multi-product warehouse consisting of at least 40,000 square feet or a centralized mail center. You must have had direct responsibility for the shipping and receipt of products via company-owned or leased vehicles and drivers employed by the company (not common carrier). One year of this experience must have included supervising warehouse staff;

Or 3. a bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or warehouse management AND two years of experience as an assistant manager of a multi-product warehouse consisting of at least 40,000 square feet or a centralized mail center. You must have had direct responsibility for the shipping and receipt of products via company-owned or leased vehicles and drivers employed by the company (not common carrier). One year of this experience must have included supervising warehouse staff.

If you are appointed provisionally, you must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before you can be permanently appointed. If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained.
