Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Experience:

Four (4) years of responsible management, administrative or supervisory experience in the health services field including one (1) year as manager of one or more of the following areas functioning in support of clinical or treatment services: budget, fiscal, human resource management, affirmative action, information systems management, or support services in a general hospital, community mental health center, health care facility or a facility or agency providing services to people diagnosed with mental illness or developmental disabilities.

AND

Education:

A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as following acceptable educational standards in hospital, health care, public or business administration or a related field.

OR

Experience:

Six (6) years of the experience described above including two (2) years as a manager as described above.

AND

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as following acceptable educational standards.

Additionally, all candidates must be eligible to participate in Federal health care programs (e.g., Medicaid). Individuals excluded from participation in these programs will not be considered.

Duties Description Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the incumbent will have responsibility for the day-to-day development and direction of administrative management services (human resources, fiscal services, and support services) of MVPC. The Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 1 – Administration, as part of the management team, assists the Executive Director and provides administrative leadership; implements facility policies; interprets policy guidelines and monitors the effectiveness of these policies and ensures Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) standards for Administrative Services are met.

Additional Comments Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center (MVPC), a State-operated and Joint Commission (JC) accredited facility located in Utica, New York, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 1 - Administration. MVPC provides quality, individualized psychiatric treatment and rehabilitation services that promote recovery and resilience. The facility is affiliated with SUNY Upstate Medical University. MVPC provides inpatient services for children and adolescents and community-based programs for adults with mental illness. MVPC’s outpatient programs include three (3) clinics: the York Street Clinic, Rome Clinic and Herkimer Clinic, which serve over 1,000 adults; three (3) Community Service Programs: an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, Care Management (CM), and The Corner Rehabilitation and Recovery Center; and residential services, which are provided at three locations: the Whitesboro State Operated Community Residence, Yorkville State Operated Community Residence, and the Transitional Living Center (TLC). Background Investigation and Fees:

Candidates will also be subject to a check against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs, and the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) maintained by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).
