Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent or contingent-permanent service as an Office Assistant 2, Grade 9, or one or more years of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a title at or above the Grade 7 level, and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
OR:
Provisional Promotion: New York State Department of Health employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive status in an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 5 or higher. Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize multiple assignments, and the ability to work cooperatively in a team based setting. The preferred candidate should also have experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook, WebEx, and familiarity with using electronic databases.
Duties Description This position will be assigned to the Center for Environmental Health's Bureau of Environmental Radiation Protection. Responsibilities include answering and triaging non-technical phone calls, and sending calls to appropriate staff; processing incoming mail; processing incoming license and/or registration applications; data entry; assistance and coordinating with Bureau mailings; maintaining and assisting with Bureau filing (this will be a priority assignment for this position), and other administrative duties as needed.
Additional Comments Permanent or provisional, full time. If three or fewer New York State Department of Health promotional candidates respond to this notice, the agency may, at its discretion, nominate a qualified employee for non-competitive promotion under the provisions of Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. Employees must have one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in qualifying title.
