Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list.

OR

One year of permanent, competitive service as a Nurse Practitioner (Family Health) and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Possession of a New York State License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and certification in Family Health by the New York State Education Department.

Duties Description The incumbent will assist in the general oversight of medical issues at the Board and promote high quality care and outcomes for all injured workers. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Provide clinical support and expertise to the Medical Director and MDO staff related to medical treatment guidelines, the prescription drug formulary, impairment guidelines and the medical fee schedule
• Monitor and update medical treatment guidelines, the prescription drug formulary, impairment guidelines and the medical fee schedule
• Assist in the development of strategies and implementation of initiatives to facilitate authorized providers participation in the workers' compensation system of care
• Conduct quality assurance analysis of medical necessity reviews conducted by medical care representatives of prior authorization requests for treatment/procedures and/or testing to determine the medical necessity of treatments requested for injured workers in accordance with evidence based Medical Treatment Guidelines to determine if the request meets the criteria for approval
• Conduct quality improvement/assurance analysis of medical necessity reviews conducted by medical care representatives of prior authorization requests in accordance with Section 324 of Title 12 NYCRR (MTG Variances & Special Services); Section 441 of Title 12 NYCRR (Drug Formulary) and Section 442.2 (Durable Medical Equipment)
• As necessary, conduct medical necessity reviews of prior authorization requests for more invasive, complicated procedures, known as Special Services
• Collaborate with MDO staff and providers to ensure continuity of care for injured workers

NOTE: You must maintain your license and registration once you are appointed to continue employment with the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board.

Additional Comments Posted hiring salary includes an Increased Hiring Salary ($5,757) and a Geographical Differential ($20,000) added to the statutory rate ($83,550) PS&T SG-24. Posted maximum salary includes the sum of a Geographical Differential added to the statutory rate ($105,472) PS&T SG-24.
