Minimum Qualifications Permanent transfer candidates: Current Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Health Program Administrator (G18), Health Program Administrator Trainee 1 (NS), or Health Program Administrator Trainee 2 (NS); OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title at or above a Salary Grade 11 and eligible to transfer under Section 52.6, Section 70.1, or Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law to a Health Program Administrator (G18), Health Program Administrator Trainee 1 (NS), or Health Program Administrator Trainee 2 (NS). Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in public health, public administration or related field; Experience coordinating public health interventions and familiarity with public health grant administration; Experience serving as a liaison to an advisory group and/or conducting meeting facilitation, registration, minute-taking, and follow-up; Strong writing skills including developing content for websites, drafting social media content, and on-line newsletters; Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Share Point, desktop publishing, and use of survey software such as Survey Monkey; Experience with procurements and/or contract management. Training in health equity and/or racial justice.
Duties Description Provide high-level administrative and programmatic support to programs within the Bureau of Cancer Prevention and Control to identify, promote, and implement cancer prevention, early detection, and survivorship priorities. This is done by facilitating collaborations within the Bureau, with Bureau contractors and with the New York State (NYS) Cancer Consortium. Incumbent will work as part of a team to assist cancer screening and prevention programs to reach communities of color, underserved and unserved populations.

Contingent-Permanent, competitive full-time. Two year traineeship leading to a G18. Transfer candidates may be asked for SSN to verify title history and eligibility. Occasional travel, including overnights and travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation is required (10%).
