Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-17 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.

Duties Description As a Correctional Facility Specialist 1 (CFS1), the incumbent will evaluate and audit programs and operating procedures at county, New York City, and New York State correctional facilities, police department lockups, and secure facilities operated by the Office of Children and Family Services throughout the State including interacting with facility administrators and executives. The CFS1 will also investigate unusual incidents; provide technical assistance to facility administrators including assisting in planning and implementing operations, programs, and services; investigate and/or assist in investigation of inmate deaths; and develop program minimum standards. Depending on assignment, up to 40% required travel is possible, including overnight travel.
