Minimum Qualifications A Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Audiology, Special Education, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Rehabilitation Therapy Or Counseling, Speech Pathology, or Community Mental Health and a license, certificate, or registration by the New York State Education Department, or one established by the appropriate professional organization, for professional practice of that discipline; and four years of professional mental health/developmental disabilities treatment experience, including two years in an administrative or supervisory capacity, and one year as a member of a fully-functioning, multi-disciplinary treatment team

A Masters Degree in Psychology or Social Work may be substituted for one year of the general experience.

Candidates must be reachable for appointment from the current Civil Service eligible list for the title; To be considered a qualified employee eligible to compete in this examination, you must be employed in, or on leave from, the specified department or agency on a permanent or contingent permanent basis in the competitive class, or in the non-competitive class or labor class if specifically noted on this announcement (or be on an appropriate preferred list), and have the specified time in the specified title or salary grade. You may not compete in a test for a title if you are permanently employed in that title (unless you are still on probation) or in a higher direct line of promotion.

To be eligible for transfer under Sections 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title approved for transfer by the Department of Civil Service within two salary grades or one M-grade of the M-1 level.

Duties Description As a Treatment Team Leader Mental Health, you would have program and administrative responsibility for the treatment activities of an interdisciplinary treatment team and direct and coordinate a total program tailored to the individual needs of clients. You would be responsible for assigning team resources to accomplish goals and evaluating team programs; supervising the maintenance of medical and other records and files pertinent to the treatment and care of patients, and supervise the development of data from records and files for various evaluations or studies; participating in planning and program development committees to determine and influence treatment and therapeutic programs, and serving on committees such as placement, utilization review, medical records review and others, as required; and preparing periodic performance evaluations of subordinates.

2. If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicaid and Medicare, you may be terminated from your employment.

Additional Comments Background Investigation Requirements:
Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) which includes State and Federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.

This position is for Elmira PC's ACT Team located in Ithaca, NY. Adult population, Outpatient.
