Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Permanent: Current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service as a Medicaid Eligibility Examiner 2 (G14), OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to a salary grade 12or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have professional experience in public health insurance programs, including New York’s Medicaid and/or Medicare. Preferred candidates will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical skills and attention to detail; strong organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access); the ability to work well independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple priorities in order to meet deadlines; and experience using electronic data systems, such as eMedNY and NYSOH Back Office. Supervisory experience is a plus.

Duties Description This Medicaid Eligibility Examiner 2 (MEE 2) will work within the Bureau of Community Enrollment and Eligibility Processing to provide support for expansion and eligibility initiatives related to Medicaid policy, with a focus on some of New York’s most vulnerable populations, including incarcerated individuals, and justice involved youth.

Specific duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Provide technical assistance to local social service districts, state agencies, clients, health care providers, advocacy groups, and professional organizations.
• Review reports related to incarceration, and complete manual corrections within computer applications.
• Manage public email inbox, coordinate thorough and policy correct responses to inquiries.
• Assure compliance with State and Federal regulations related to eligibility.
• Work with Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, New York City Department of Correction and New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services to coordinate Medicaid for incarcerated individuals.
• Coordinate with the Office of Children and Family Services on Medicaid for juvenile involved youth.
