Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Current NYS Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive status as a Health Program Administrator 1, G23 OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title at or above a G21 and deemed eligible for transfer to Health Program Administrator 1, G23 under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of the NYS Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience in a large, multi-faceted public health program with excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal) and strong attention to detail. The preferred candidate will demonstrate strong critical thinking and excellent problem-solving skills, with experience analyzing information and understanding program policies. They will be able to act independently while handling competing priorities in a high-volume work environment, willingness to take initiative, resourcefulness and ability to work successfully in a team environment..
Duties Description The Health Program Administrator 1 will be part of the Division of Vaccine Excellence, Bureau of Vaccine Programs. The Health Program Administrator 1 will ensure compliance with requirements for over 1,700 providers enrolled in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program and Vaccines for Adults (VFA) Programs as the lead of the Program Compliance, Training, and Education Unit. This includes reviewing and updating New York State guidance, trainings, and resources for enrolled providers to ensure consistency with CDC requirements; providing technical assistance and training to field staff who conduct VFC compliance site visits; providing storage and handling guidance to enrolled providers; developing monthly Vaccine Program Office Hours presentations; and supervision of staff.
Additional Comments Occasional travel within New York State, including overnights and to locations that may not be served by public transportation, may be required.
Contingent Permanent, competitive, full-time. Transfer candidates may be asked for SSN to verify title history and eligibility.
For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
