Job Specifics

Duties Description As a Teacher, you will teach elementary, secondary, or special subjects including
• Preparing course and unit outlines, lesson plans, and individual education plans
• Evaluating and documenting individuals’ performance and progress
• Collaborating with treatment team to work toward treatment goals and objectives

Minimum Qualifications Are you an experienced teacher looking for a new opportunity or just starting your teaching career? Office of Mental Health, a NYS agency, has teaching opportunities throughout New York State. Rockland Children's Psychiatric Center is recruiting a Teacher to provide educational instruction to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they meet any of the following:

Teacher 2 – Current New York State Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.

Teacher 3 – Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.

Teacher 4 - Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and 2 years of post-certification (initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty.

OR

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on a current Teacher eligible list.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section
