Job Specifics
Duties Description This internship is in NYSIF’s Investment Department, which oversees approximately $20 billion across multiple asset classes. The team is seeking high-performing, motivated candidates with a strong interest in the investment field. The role will provide exposure to NYSIF's investment operations, with a focus on sustainable investing strategies, including ESG integration, risk analysis, and performance evaluation across NYSIF’s portfolio.
Minimum Qualifications • Enrolled full-time in a college, university, or graduate program in New York State and have completed a minimum of one (1) year of studies or a be a New York State Permanent resident enrolled in a college, university, or graduate program,
• Ability to work part-time during the Spring semester (January to May) requiring a part-time commitment of 8-20 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Working knowledge of PowerPoint for report creation and visual presentations.
• Strong writing skills.
• Familiarity with data science techniques and tools, such as Python, R, or VBA for financial modeling and data analysis.
• Solid foundation in Finance, Economics, Sustainability.
• Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.3, or the letter grade equivalent.
• Availability to transition to a full-time position in the Summer (up to 37.5 hours weekly).

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
