Job Specifics

Duties Description The Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) at SUNY Old Westbury invites applications for the position of Programmer/Analyst. A Programmer/Analyst is responsible for the design, development, testing, and documentation of computer information systems in support of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System programs.

The Programmer/Analyst is an entry level position. This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position requiring an on campus presence and is not eligible for a remote or hybrid work schedule.

The Programmer/Analyst will perform the following functions:

Design, develop, modify and document application programs.
Review and analyze user specifications in the writing of programming code.
Verify program logic by preparing test data and performing trial runs.
Determine causes of program malfunctions.
Provide technical assistance, training and advice to staff and user.
Responsible for the application system interfaces to various ancillary software including the data integration and synchronization between systems.
Analyze user data requests and develop queries, create reports, data extract, etc., utilizing various reporting tools.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Ability to learn new programming languages, techniques, work process.
Ability to communicate effectively, oral and written skills.
Plan, organize and execute work responsibilities and assignments.
Attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Work Environment:

Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
Standard office environment.
Noise level quiet to moderate.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

An Associate's degree and three (3) years programming experience OR a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science and one (1) year programming experience.
Course or work experience with two of the following: SQL, PL/SQL, JAVA, Java Script, HTML5, CSS, PERL or ORACLE.

Preferred Qualifications:

Course or work experience with shell scripting languages (e.g., Linux, Unix, PERL or equivalent).
Knowledge of, or experience working with Ellucian Banner or any other ERP system.
Ability to effectively communicate with both end users and technical personnel within IT as well as with external vendors.
Experience working in a multicultural environment.

Salary range: $49,261.00 - $70,000.00 commensurate with experience and education (plus $3,400.00 location pay)
