Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Occupational Therapist Supervisor 2 will oversee the occupational therapy program at Bernard Fineson DDSO (BFDDSO); the incumbent’s time will be shared among the Article 16 Clinic, Independent Practitioner Services for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (IPSIDD), the Extended Treatment Unit (ETU), and the Comprehensive Adult Treatment Home (CATH). The Occupational Therapist Supervisor 2 will also plan, develop, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy programs and services, including evaluating individuals for services, developing and reviewing treatment plans and providing ongoing services to individuals served by these programs. It is expected that that Occupational Therapist Supervisor 2 will be familiar with OPWDD Electronic Health Record (EHR) System; it is preferred that the incumbent will have familiarity and knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations regarding outpatient rehabilitation therapy services and will be current with their Medicare/Medicaid and IPSIDD enrollment. The Occupational Therapist Supervisor 2 will also coordinate and provide discipline specific trainings, participate in local and statewide committees, and offer recommendations on adaptive equipment needs for the individuals served. This position will require local travel within the Borough of Queens, as well as within NYS to participate in statewide initiatives.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will function as the Department Head of the Occupational Therapy Program, with duties to include:

• Function as BFDDSO’s lead Occupational Therapist Supervisor 2, and as such will provide evaluation, screening and assessments as needed in the Article 16 Clinic, IPSIDD and ICF programs.

• Review Evaluations, Screenings and Assessments and make recommendations for necessary adaptive equipment, techniques, environmental modifications.

• Provide discipline specific training to individuals, collateral supports, and team members in BFDDSO programs and services.

• Develop and implement treatment plans, as well as selecting, monitoring and administering therapeutic interventions and modalities.

• Serve as the OT representative at interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, when requested.

• Oversee the development and implementation of OT policies and procedures.

• Participation in Local and Statewide committees and communities of practice. This may include travel within NYS to other OPWDD locations for statewide initiatives.

• Will serve as an Administrator on Duty (AOD) on a rotational basis.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications • Eligible List: Candidates must be reachable for appointment on Current Civil Service Eligible List for this title.

• Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.
• Reassignment: Current Office for People with Developmental Disabilities employees with one year of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55 B/C service as an Occupational Therapist Supervisor 2. If you have less than one year, you must be currently reachable on the eligible list.

• Provisional: In the event that there is not a valid eligible list for this title in this location, candidates who meet the following promotion or open-competitive qualifications may be qualified for a provisional appointment:

o Promotion-Must have license and current registration as an Occupational Therapist in New York State, and one year of permanent service as an Occupational Therapist Supervisor 1.
o Open Competitive-Must have license and current registration as an Occupational Therapist in New York State, and four years of post-licensure occupational therapy experience, one year of which must have been at a supervisory level.

Note: Current OPWDD employees are required to be up to date with all required trainings once hired.

Additional Comments • If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.

• The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.
