Job Specifics
Duties Description Lay out work, assign work orders and coordinate daily activities using the appropriate staff and follow up to ensure proper completion of assignments. Maintain accurate DOH and Joint Commission compliant written logs and records. Review and ensure all department P&Ps are accurate and adhered to. Order and stock necessary parts and materials needed by the department for repairs and maintenance. Prepare Requisitions for duties as assigned.
You must pass competencies for this position.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible OR Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title eligible for transfer under the provisions of Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Minimum Qualification Substitution:
An associate degree in a related field can substitute for two years of specialized experience; a bachelor’s in a related field degree can substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree in a related field can substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate in a related field can substitute for six years of experience.
Additional Comments PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
Three to five years of second-level supervisory experience in the operation and maintenance of a physical plant. Working knowledge of practices and techniques of the electrical, plumbing, HVAC and carpentry trades. Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical blue prints and advanced trouble shooting skills to diagnose and repair electrical/mechanical issues. Knowledge of DOH and Joint Commission standards as they apply to the facility.
