Job Specifics
Duties Description The New York State Legislative Library is hiring a Legislative Library Assistant. Interested candidates should review the duties and qualifications and submit a resume and cover letter describing relevant work experience and how they meet the qualifications.
General description of duties:
•Assist with the upkeep, shelving, updating, and preservation of books and other library materials.
•Provide customer service to patrons at the information desk by locating materials, answering questions, and/or making referrals to the librarians.
•Update loose-leaf publications.
•Answer telephone calls when needed and direct calls.
•Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications To be considered, you must have:
•A bachelor’s degree.
•Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
•Experience in a clerical position.
•Customer service experience.
•Flexibility and willingness to learn in a changing environment.
•Creative problem-solving skills.
•A basic understanding of how a bill becomes a law in New York State.
The ideal candidate will also have experience in a law library or library information center with a significant legal collection.
Additional Comments This is a full-time, 35 hours per week position, Monday – Friday, 9.00AM-5.00PM. The incumbent is required to work unpredictable evenings during the legislative session (January-June).
Starting salary i000 to $45,000, commensurate with education and experience.
