Job Specifics

Duties Description As a Principal Employment Security Clerk, you would supervise Office Assistant 1, Office Assistant 2, and Senior Employment Security Clerk subordinate staff assigned to the Liability and Determination section. These staff perform duties which may include: using knowledge of the UI law to perform a variety of complex functions related to the determination of employer liability for unemployment insurance contributions; maintaining employer accounts; utilizing various database applications; and responding to employer and agency requests for information. You would review work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and completeness; identify and resolve problems arising in the processing of transactions; prepare periodic and special activity reports; and schedule work assignments to ensure mandated timeliness requirements are met. You would also handle the more complex cases relating to employer liability and account status.

Minimum Qualifications If Civil Service Eligible list(s) exist, they will be canvassed. You may also apply if you are eligible for appointment by one of the following qualifications:

Reassignment Qualifications:
Current Department of Labor employees only, with at least one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a Principal Employment Security Clerk; if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Principal Employment Security Clerk eligible list for this location if one exists.

70.1 Transfer Qualifications:
One year of permanent or contingent-permanent as a Grade 12 or higher determined to be similar by Civil Service.

Subsequent 55 B/C Qualifications:
A subsequent 55b/c appointment may be considered if you have one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a Senior Employment Security Clerk title and have a current Civil Service 55b/c approval letter.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
