Job Specifics
Duties Description • The Senior LPN will assist with rooming patients, administer medication as ordered, complete EKGs, phlebotomy duties and other specimen collection tasks.
• The Senior LPN provides orientation to new LPNs, reviews and submits timecards, completed annual performance evaluations and ensures minimum LPN staffing is met to meet the medical needs of individuals.
• The Senior LPN assist will schedule individuals for primary care office, primary care psychiatry, dental, and other Article 16 providers.
• Monitor the main clinic phone line and distribute calls and messages as appropriate.
• The Senior LPN will assist with itemizing and boxing of medical records, assist with acquiring OPWDD individual’ medical records request, input patient data into EHR, upload records to EHR, organize and send out new patient intake packets, assist with Camp Wilton preparation
• Maintains charts and other records of individuals’ conditions and/or administered treatments.
• The Senior LPN assists with the medical needs of the individuals (examples: straight catheterization, diabetic care, administering injectables, G/J-tube maintenance, ensuring accountability of controlled medications) per RN direction and any additional medical treatment as they are deemed necessary and within LPN standards of practice.
• Will monitor supply inventories and completes requisition forms to ensure the availability of supplies and equipment for medical tasks.
• Observes, monitors, and records individuals’ symptoms and conditions to obtain and provide information for diagnosis and treatment; identifies responses to medication or changes in health status; and reports such to a registered nurse, physician, or other licensed health care provider.
• May monitor/perform housekeeping tasks in the clinical area to ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for individuals. This will include exam room clean-up/turn over, disinfection, supply re-stocking, etc.
• Direct care duties may be required to attend to individuals’ personal needs, including activities of daily living and hygiene tasks, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and grooming.
• Other duties as assigned.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Selection will be based on seniority for the Senior LPN 1 title and on interview, and candidates past work history for the Senior LPN 2 title.

Minimum Qualifications Senior LPN 1:
Promotion: possession of a license and current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State; and one year of service as a Licensed Practical Nurse and reachable for appointment on current Civil Service Eligible List for this title.
Open competitive: A license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State and one year of experience providing nursing care and treatment services to individuals under the supervision of a registered nurse; assisting with the implementation of treatment plans; administering, observing, and recording medication management; educating and counseling individuals and families regarding illnesses, medications, tests, and treatment goals and procedures; monitoring and recording individuals progress; and supervising direct care staff.
TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive, non-competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.

Senior LPN 2:
Promotion:

Transfer Qualifications:

Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.
• Please note that starting salary for the Senior LPN 1 reflects the increased hiring salary and geographic pay differential. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 11 ($47,695), Increased Hiring Salary ($6,144), Geographic Differential ($4,000). Geographic Differential is added to the Job Rate ($58,447).
• Please note that starting salary for the Senior LPN 2 reflects the increased hiring salary and geographic pay differential. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 13 ($53,413), Increased Hiring Salary ($6,656) and Geographic Pay Differential ($4,000). The Geographic Pay Differential is added to the job rate of ($65,061).
• If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.
• For CSEA positions: Local Bidding Agreements will be honored.
• Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures. If you are being impacted by closure, please indicate this on your resume.
• All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.
