Job Specifics
Duties Description DUTIES DESCRIPTION:
1. Managing, developing, and maintaining product backlog: this includes gathering and documenting feature requests, user stories, and other items that need to be addressed in the product.
2. Prioritizing backlog items based on factors like business value, user needs, and technical feasibility.
3. Refining backlog items as the product evolves, and new information becomes available; update and refine the backlog to ensure it remains relevant and accurate.
4. Work with stakeholders (internal and external business users, vendor and ITS teams) to understand their needs and expectations.
5. Clarifying user stories, conditions, and acceptance criteria to translate business needs into clear and actionable user stories that the development team can understand and use to build the product.
6. Communicating the product vision, roadmap, goals, and priorities to the development team and other stakeholders.
7. Working with cross-functional teams including NYS ITS teams, vendor company, business area, development, design, and other teams to ensure the product is developed effectively and efficiently.
8. Making real-time decisions during development iterations and how to address any roadblocks that arise. Manage the release plan and adjust when needed
9. Evaluate the work completed by the development team and determine whether it meets the acceptance criteria defined in the user stories. Ensuring the product aligns with the overall vision, goals, and organizational roadmap and the product stays on track and meets the overall vision and goals set by the product management team.
10. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, encourage the team to continuously improve the product development process.
11. Report regularly to executive leadership and steering committee on product development progress and any roadblocks or risks/issues
12. Work with steering committee and key stakeholders on making strategic decisions about the product roadmap, future feature prioritization and alignment or release planning.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
Eight years* of relevant professional experience
* An Associate's Degree may substitute two year of the required experience.
* A Bachelor's Degree may substitute four years of the required experience.
* A Master's Degree may substitute five years of the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• experience working on large complex multi-phase projects
• proven leadership skills
• deep understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies
• experience in software development
• stakeholder management capabilities,
• experience in product development and backlog management
• ability to work with different vendor groups
• support activities surrounding contract management
