Job Specifics
Duties Description The Criminal Justice Program Specialist 2 (CJPS2), SG-23, will be responsible for supervisory oversight of the Asset Reporting Program, Administrative Studies Program, SWAT Team Certification Program, Law Enforcement Canine Team Certification Program, Police Officers Memorial Program, Governors Police Officer of the Year Award and the Fallen Officer Memorial Flags Program within the Office of Public Safety. Specific duties shall include but not be limited to:
• As program manager, the CJPS2 is responsible for staff development and regularly engaging staff through a variety of communication methods to ensure that staff have a clear understanding of the unit’s organization, responsibilities, reporting structure and relationship to other agency areas;
• Responsible for administering the Asset Forfeiture Reporting Program pursuant to Civil Practice Laws and Rules (CPLR) Article 13-A and Penal Law Article 480 and ensuring that program activities are conducted per program rules and regulations.
• Oversight of the SWAT Team Certification program, ensuring that all application and supporting documents are vetted against established standards. Provide guidance and support to program staff in provision of technical assistance to applicant agencies;
• Oversight of the Canine Team Certification program, ensuring that all application and supporting documents are vetted against established standards. Provide guidance and support to program staff in provision of technical assistance to applicant agencies;
• Lead project to update and modernize Canine Training Certification program;
• Act as agency coordinator for the State of New York Police Officers Memorial. Responsible for leading program staff in administrative tasks related to agency submissions, facilitation of advisory committee meetings and coordination of annual memorial ceremony in partnership with the Office of General Services;
• Coordinate the Governor’s Police Officer of the Year Award and Memorial Flags for Fallen Officers programs;
• Oversight and coordination of Police Administrative Studies Program;
• Represent the Division on multiple advisory boards and committees related to program activities;
• Lead project to develop reporting portal for special programs including Asset Forfeiture Reporting by Counties.
Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent-competitive or 55B/C service in a title SG-21 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.
Additional Comments Up to 15% travel may be required. Some positions may require travel to locations not serviced by public transportation.
