Job Specifics
Duties Description New York State Senator Cordell Cleare is seeking a driven, detail-oriented, and strategic leader to serve as District Director. This role is based primarily in the District Office in New York City and is responsible for managing district operations, representing the Senator at meetings and events, and serving as the Senator’s key liaison with community stakeholders. The District Director plays a vital leadership role and is the primary point of contact for all district-related initiatives, outreach, and constituent issues. This individual must be able to be flexible and be open to taking on any task required.
In this dynamic role, you will:
•Serve as the Senator’s lead representative throughout the district, attending meetings, events, and community functions on their behalf
•Provide oversight of the District Office and staff, ensuring strong internal coordination and alignment with Senate priorities
•Lead and supervise the Constituent Services team to ensure cases are effectively assigned, tracked, and resolved in a timely and professional manner
•Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the district’s key stakeholders, issues, institutions, and community dynamics
•Act as a conduit of timely, actionable information from the community to the Senator and senior staff
•Coordinate closely with the Legislative, Communications, and Constituent Services teams to support district-based legislative initiatives and community engagement strategies
•Assist with planning and staffing of community events such as mobile office hours and district outreach
Minimum Qualifications To move forward, candidates must have:
•A bachelor’s degree
•Demonstrated experience managing a team and leading cross-functional coordination
•Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills
•Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and identify solutions
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Exceptional attention to detail and sound judgment
•Ability to work flexible hours, including extensive nights and weekends
The most ideal candidate will also have:
•Proficiency in Spanish or French
•Familiarity with Harlem or demonstrated experience working in similar communities
•Knowledge of New York State government or the legislative process
Additional Comments This is a full-time, in-person position based in the Senator’s District Office.

Salary range is $60,000 to $70,000, commensurate with education and experience.
