Job Specifics
Duties Description • Performs a variety of cleaning and care tasks including, but not limited to, the following:
• Picks up and removes hazardous articles which may be on floors, furniture, and equipment and places them in designated receptacles or in appropriate places.
• Using mops, brushes, and other cleaning implements, washes floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, partitions, and windows from the inside of buildings.
• Using manual and/or mechanical equipment, vacuums and waxes floors and shampoos carpets.
• Using hand-operated equipment and detergents, scrubs and cleans lavatories.
• Using appropriate equipment, such as ladders, washes light fixtures and replaces light bulbs.
• Polishes wood and metal fixtures and equipment.
• Supervises lower-level custodial personnel in the cleaning and care of an assigned area:
• Assigns specific tasks and gives instructions to custodial personnel.
• Provides assistance in resolving work problems and reviews work while in progress and upon completion.
• Reviews time and accrual records of subordinate cleaners.
• Requisitions and dispenses linens, household supplies, and equipment, maintains appropriate inventories.
• Reports need for building repairs and recommends to superior the repair and replacement of furniture, building fixtures, and household equipment.

Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and communicate orally and in writing to exchange information.
Additional Comments • Please note that starting salary for this title reflects the Downstate Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 07 ($38,235) and the Downstate adjustment ($4,000). The Downstate adjustment is also added to the job rate of ($47,237).

• All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.

The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments have been made under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer. • Paid Holidays and Leave:

° Thirteen (13) days of paid sick leave each year (PEF/CSEA), which may carry over from year to year.
° Up to three (3) days professional leave each year to participate in professional development events.

• Paid Parental Leave:
Paid Parental Leave allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave at full pay for each qualifying event. A qualifying event is defined as the birth of a child or placement of a child for adoption or foster care.
