Job Specifics

Duties Description The Public Health Nutritionist 2 (PHN 2) will serve as a team lead in the Bureau of Supplemental Food Programs' Program Communication and Collaboration Section. The PHN 2 will oversee projects and policies aimed at improving both the access to and the quality of services provided by the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The PHN 2 will be responsible for developing project timelines and workplans, implementing human-centered design principles, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement, and evaluating outcomes. The PHN 2 will coordinate efforts with other sections in the Bureau to ensure the user experience is considered in all program areas. The PHN 2 will assist with development of program outreach initiatives and participant communications. The PHN 2 will interpret federal regulations and state laws to develop program policies and advise on program operations.

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Public Health Nutritionist 2, Grade 24.

Provisional/NCP: Current New York State Department of Health employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive or 55-b/c service in a qualifying title as listed on the last Civil Service promotion examination announcement: https://www.cs.ny.gov/announarchive/announcements/38-471010.cfm?live=false

You must be currently registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and is necessary for continued employment as a Public Health Nutritionist 2.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will possess strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable plans. The candidate will also demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders and have experience managing project deliverables and timelines.

This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
