Job Specifics

Duties Description The Research Scientist 1 will work within the Bureau of Data Analytics, Research, and Evaluation, Division of Family Health. The Research Scientist 1 will support infant health programs including reducing infant mortality initiative on data linkages, analytics, surveillance, reporting, research, and evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Biostatistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related degree. Related degrees may include Economics, Computer Science, Bio-informatics, Physics, Genetics, Social Sciences, Analytics, or Engineering, and two years of post-degree professional research experience in the appropriate field; OR a Master’s degree in one of the above fields and one year of such experience in the appropriate field.


Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Statistics/Biostatistics, Data Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a closely related Health Science degree. Intermediate proficiency in the use of data analysis, database, statistical and qualitative software. Intermediate proficiency in the use of SAS BASE, SQL, MACRO, REPORT, Tableau, or other related software tools.

Additional Comments Full-time, permanent, non-competitive appointment.

This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
