Job Specifics

Duties Description This position is located in the Regulatory and Policy Unit within the Division of State Emergency Medical Services (EMS). This position is responsible for providing program-level support to the Regulatory and Policy Unit, helping move EMS regulations and policy initiatives from concept to adoption and implementation.
Program Support - 50%
Working under the direction of the Unit Manager, the incumbent conducts foundational research to support statutory and regulatory development efforts, assists with the preparation of draft language, briefing materials and presentations, and assists with the coordination of logistics for stakeholder engagement. The Student Assistant ensures high-level decision making and strategy is informed by research, analysis and well-organized program operations.
Administrative Support – 30%
This position assists with the maintenance of the Unit’s SharePoint repository, preparation of meeting agendas and maintenance of meeting records and follow-up items.
Other duties as assigned - 20%

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be a matriculated undergraduate or graduate college student. Documentation of current matriculation and enrollment in the current semester must be submitted with your resume.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Experience coordinating multiple concurrent tasks or projects under tight timelines
• Experience researching, collecting, and analyzing information to prepare written reports, memoranda, presentations, or briefing documents
• Working knowledge of New York State rule-making and policy-development processes or the ability to learn quickly
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and SharePoint, including document version control
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to proofread and format technical documents
• Ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and policy guidance and summarize key points clearly
• Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage confidential information
• Ability to build productive working relationships with internal and external partners.

Additional Comments Temporary, part-time, non-competitive. Salary determined by academic level. 20 hours per week during the academic year is required, schedule is flexible. Must maintain matriculated student status to retain employment.
