Job Specifics
Duties Description Assume 24/7 responsibility for facility in the absence of DON.
Assist DON in adhering to all State and Federal codes, rules, and regulations.
Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team to provide the highest quality of care and services to residents.
Assist in the planning, organization, and control of nursing department. Assist with updates, maintenance, & implementation of nursing policies & procedures.
Oversee schedule ensuring minimum staffing levels, collaborate with Infection Control and In-Service Nursing Departments to ensure staff have all education and competencies completed per regulations, facilitate cross shift communication, facilitate daily huddle/morning report meeting, ensure completion of ADR with weights/vs/trips/terminal status/DNR status, etc.
Monitors medication errors and ensures staff re-education. Co-chair of Nurse Management Meetings. Complete daily rounding to identify areas of educational needs and competencies.
Responsible for risk management, ensure accurate and thorough completion of Accident Incident Reports, chair daily unit rapid meetings, attend daily unit meetings based on rapid schedule, participate in FIT reviews, complete NYS DOH investigations and reports, investigate staff, family, and resident complaints. Participate in QAPI process—PIP team leader. Responsible for staff oversight including training, coaching & counseling. Assist with interviews for potential new nursing staff, provides supervision, guidance, and oversight, and assist with problem resolution. Review and approve staff evaluations, determine and oversee staff assignments. Approve leave time slips and in conjunction with the Human Resources Department, track time and attendance. On-Call Responsibilities—weekend rotation TBD.
Minimum Qualifications Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Oxford employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as an Assistant Director Nursing 1 Long Term Care.
Transfers: Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position that is eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law to Assistant Director Nursing 1 Long Term Care and possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
Public Candidates (NY HELPS): Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State and four years of post-licensure professional clinical nursing experience in a long-term care setting. One year of the experience must have been at a supervisory level.
Substitution: An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.
Additional Comments One permanent, competitive full-time appointment, or non-competitive full-time appointment via HELPS.

Posted salary range includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for M/C Grade 61 ($130,147 to $138,388), plus an additional geographic pay differential of $20,000
