Job Specifics

Duties Description The New York State Senate is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual to fill a Payroll Processing position to support the New York State Senate Payroll Department.

The primary responsibilities include:

•Employment verifications, including the New York State Department of Labor inquiries
•Configuring payroll transactions that are received from Personnel daily
•Input payroll into Senate Financial Management System (SFMS)
•Review output transactions for proper codes for files
•Input payroll into “Payserv,” as needed
•Review check registers biweekly for payroll changes
•Reconcile checks
•Field telephone calls
•Various general office duties

Minimum Qualifications To be considered, you must have:

•Two years’ experience in a payroll environment processing agency-related multi-entity payrolls with a medium to large company/employee base
•Strong PC skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
•A high school diploma required, 2-year degree preferred

Knowledge, skills, and abilities (those necessary to perform the job competently):

•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
•Established organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks & work under deadlines
•Strong communication and customer service skills
•Have a desire to succeed in a business environment

Additional Comments The salary range is $40,000 to $45,000, commensurate with experience and education. This is an in-person position based in Albany, NY.
