Job Specifics
Duties Description The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) provides operational support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year, supporting more than 4,900 applications for 53 New York State Agencies.
Under the direction of the Information Technology Specialist 4 (SG-25) for DTO’s Digital Experience Bureau in the Communication Experience (ComX) section, the Technology Analyst 1 Cloud Solutions, will be responsible for programming advanced voice and chat bots in cloud environments. This position will require a working relationship with Other ITS units, vendors, and project staff, to implement new and leading technologies in the Contact Center systems.
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Technology Analyst 1 Cloud Solutions to join our team. This IT Specialist will manage day-to-day administrative tasks, provide support to leadership to multiple teams, and ensure the efficient operation of the organization. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable working independently and is able to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Continually learn and implement new technologies. Work with multiple new Cloud-based solutions. Position will also require being able to support vendor-built solutions using these technologies.
• Interface with customers, agency partner staff, and internal staff in a highly professional manner.
• Have the ability and flexibility to consistently accept change, as well as adapt to new technologies and methods.
• Participate in requirements gathering with customers and help solution their technology architecture and environment needs.
• Program and develop in multiple environments and products as well as handle advanced integrations with other environments and products. Preferred programming languages include JavaScript, NodeJS, and .NET as well as object-based programming experience.
• Build advanced chatbots and phone bots with connections and integrations to other vendor technologies. This will also require integration with other products such as CRM's, SMS, Chatbots, Email, and other NY State Processing systems.
• Preferred experience in the following areas: REST Webservice experience, architecture design, security review experience, GIT, AWS, Amazon Connect, Google, GCP,
• Experience with React and front end development as well as web deployment.
• Troubleshoot bugs found in development and work with vendor to find a fix.
• Assist with troubleshooting when emergency issues arise, including after hours or weekend emergency issues.
• Attend and participate in meetings with internal team staff, vendors, agency customer staff, and vendors.
• Adhere to all training and administration requirements.
• Bring fresh thoughts and ideas to the team to expand on current technology solutions.
Minimum Qualifications Five (5) years of information technology experience, one (1) year of which must be within the discipline of cloud solutions.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
• Associate’s degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science or a related field substitutes for one year of general information technology experience.
• Candidates in a bachelor’s degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science or a related field can substitute for one year of general information technology experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in any field including or supplemented by fifteen (15) semester credit hours in computer science or a related field substitutes for three years substitutes for three (3) years of general information technology experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in any field substitutes for two (2) years of general information technology experience.
• Master’s degree or higher in computer science or related field substitutes for one year of general information technology experience.
Preferred qualifications:
• Preference for candidates holding relevant cloud analyst certification, including but not limited to:
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• Google Professional Cloud Architect
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Comprehensive understanding of cloud services, including storage, networking, and databases, to effectively analyze and manage an organization’s cloud computing strategy.
• Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise in the cloud environment.
• Exceptional analytical skills to evaluate cloud application requirements and make recommendations for improvements and optimization.
• Excellent communication skills to clearly explain complex cloud reports to IT and non-IT staff, aiding in decision-making processes.
• Proficiency in cloud computing technologies and platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience in data analysis and interpretation to effectively understand and use data gathered from cloud platforms.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and applications, network structures, and data security protocols in a cloud context.
• Familiarity with programming languages like Python, Java, or Ruby.
• Ability to work collaboratively with IT teams to design and implement effective cloud strategies and ensure seamless integration with existing systems
Please note:
• Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring.
• Appointment to this position is not final until all agency approvals have been granted.
Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
