Job Specifics

Duties Description Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Center is recruiting Summer Teachers for the 2025 Summer school year. Summer Teachers provide classroom coverage and support to the educational instruction provided to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

As a Teacher, you will teach elementary, secondary, or special subjects including
• Preparing course and unit outlines, lesson plans, and individual education plans
• Evaluating and documenting individuals’ performance and progress
• Collaborating with treatment team to work toward treatment goals and objectives

Minimum Qualifications Teacher 1 – Bachelor’s degree including satisfactory completion of the semester hours required for the teaching specialty.

Teacher 2 – Current New York State Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.

Teacher 3 – Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.

Teacher 4 - Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and 2 years of post-certification (initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty.

The position is temporary for the Summer School Program running from July 1, 2026 to August 30, 2026.
