Job Specifics
Duties Description This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning tasks. It requires following specialized disinfectant, waste disposal, and cleanliness standards. The role involves collecting and emptying trash and recycling in accordance with schedules; cleaning and removing hazardous items, waste, and spills; and disposing of, transporting, or placing such items in appropriate receptacles, following proper procedures.
The position requires assembling cleaning carts; preparing, mixing, and diluting cleaning solutions; and washing floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, partitions, and windows using mops, detergents, brushes, and other devices. The incumbent vacuums, strips, and waxes floors, and shampoos carpets using manual or mechanical equipment; and scrubs and cleans showers and restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and drains, using hand-operated equipment and agents.
In addition, the incumbent replaces light bulbs, and dusts or washes light fixtures and high places (such as ceilings) using ladders and other equipment; polishes wood and metal surfaces, fixtures, furniture, and equipment; monitors supplies; and notifies supervisors of supply levels, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance issues.
Furthermore, the incumbent is responsible for replacing, cleaning, and/or hanging building fixtures and decorative items (such as curtains, blinds, and pictures); moving and arranging furniture for events; and performing grounds maintenance, such as removing snow, salting walkways, cleaning sidewalks, and mowing lawns. Additional duties include routine laundry tasks and changing bed linens.
Minimum Qualifications There are no education or experience requirements for this class. Cleaners must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience in a long-term care geriatric setting cleaning.
