Job Specifics

Duties Description • Review criminal histories of applicants for certain positions pursuant to statutory directive.
• Maintain records and documentation of such reviews.
• Work collaboratively with CBC Director and staff with respect to the functioning and operations of the CBC Unit.
• This includes: assessing appropriate suggested determinations, providing guidance with respect to the CBC processes. Function as a resource to, and assist CBC Director and Assistant Director, and when necessary, other Justice Center CBC Unit staff, with respect to issues concerning the criminal background check process.
• Processing requests for Information on Category 2 findings
• Assisting in preparing monthly reports
• Handling the subsequent Category 2 notification process
• Processing SEL checks in the absence of the Assistant Director and backup staff person

Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one year or more permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as an Associate Administrative Analyst and are interested in reassignment; OR Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 21 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 52.6 as appropriate of the Civil Service Law.

Promotion: one year of permanent service as a Senior Administrative Analyst.

Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP): If there are no more than three qualified candidates in the promotion field for this position, the agency will request approval from the Department of Civil Service to fill this position via a non-competitive promotion (NCP) examination, pursuant to Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. In order to be eligible for the NCP, candidates must be in the departmental promotion field and have one year or more in a permanent or contingent-permanent competitive, or 55b/c service in a Sr. Administrative Analyst, SG-18.
