Job Specifics

Duties Description The Occupational Therapist will work as part of an inpatient rehab team on diagnosis specific units. They will perform initial evaluation and treatment of patients as well as DC planning and DME needs. The incumbent is responsible for providing patient care for inpatient as well as outpatient coverage if the need arises and will participate in OT student programming; other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 18 or above, and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Occupational Therapist

NY HELPS Non-competitive minimum qualifications:
Possession of a license and current registration as an occupational therapy in New York State.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience with neuro and/or non neuro patient care. Experience with Meditech documentation as well as Medilinks/Wellsky. Knowledge of inpatient Medicare guidelines for documentation. Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.

If there are three or fewer qualified candidates interested in the appointment to this position, a permanent appointment may be made pursuant to Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. To be eligible, candidates must have possession of a license and current registration as an occupational therapist in New York State, and three years of post-licensure occupational therapy
experience.

Posted salary range ($91,193 - $111, 121 annually) includes statutory hiring rate at job rate for PS&T Grade 20 ($74,193 - $94,121), plus an additional geographic pay differential of $13,000 and downstate adjustment of $4,000.

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
