Job Specifics
Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time. Under the direction of the Training Lead for the Chief AI Office, the position will provide the following services:
• Develop/use pre-existing project management plans and documents to coordinate and support the activities of a project team
• Participate in reviewing project proposals or plans to define scope statements, and documents project requirements
• Determine project start/end dates and establish critical milestones within the project schedule
• Record and report schedule progress and project expenditures
• Record quality metrics concerning the project and product performance
• Compile project reports and communicate project status
• Interact with stakeholders and coordinate the activities of the project team
• Design, develop and/or refine templates to support project management
• May plan and conduct project analysis sessions
• May oversee the development of requests for proposals (RFP)
• May train agency staff in basic project management processes and tools
• Prepare project portfolio or project inventory reports
• Organize and maintain a project management library
• Assist higher level Project Manager, Product manager or program area manager on more complex projects
Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, candidates may be hired via a non-competitive appointment if they meet the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications: At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), itis expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
NON-COMPETITIVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Seven years of experience years of experience in project management which must have included planning and at least three other of the management process groups: origination (including governance work intake, portfolio management, capacity demand planning); initiating; executing; controlling; and, closing; and the development of project management deliverables, such as scope statements, schedules, budgets, quality plans, risk plans, and communication plans.
An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.
COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Eligible for a lateral transfer or for transfer under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law by having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title. Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. Some positions may require fingerprinting. If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $4,000 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary.
