Job Specifics

Duties Description Creedmoor Psychiatric Center (CPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission-accredited facility, is recruiting a board-certified Psychiatrist to join their team and serve as the Associate Program Director of their Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited Psychiatric Residency Program affiliated with Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. The goal of the Psychiatric Residency Program is to train and mentor participants in a range of therapeutic modalities that support patient-centered, recovery-focused, and culturally sensitive treatment of individuals with serious mental illness.

The Psychiatric Residency program offers participants a broad range of training opportunities at the primary teaching site, CPC, but also at each participating training:
• Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC)/New York Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH)
• Queens Hospital Center (QHC)
• The Jewish Board Rego Park Counseling Center
• OMH New York City Children’s Center – Queens Campus
• Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) Creedmoor Addiction Treatment Center
• OMH Bronx Psychiatric Center
As the Associate Program Director, you will be responsible for the development and oversight of a four-year training curriculum, including:
• Overseeing the residency program operations and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
• Developing and updating program policies, procedures, and curricula.
• Mentoring, teaching, and supervising residents.
• Reviewing resident records and evaluating for accuracy and quality.
• Participating in committees and planning to improve program outcomes.

About CPC:
CPC, one of the largest and culturally diverse OMH facilities, provides a continuum of care to individuals from the borough of Queens who require intermediate and extended mental health treatment through inpatient and outpatient services. CPC is a large, urban facility with 350 inpatient beds, 170 outpatient residential beds, an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, and a wide array of other outpatient programs. CPC’s comprehensive service delivery focuses on individualized and person-centered care.

The CPC campus offers ample free parking, and is conveniently located near the Long Island Expressway, Cross Island Expressway and Grand Central Parkway and is bus-line accessible with local stops on the Q46, QM 36, QM6, N22, and N26 lines in NYC and Nassau County.


Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:

Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

This position is eligible for Downstate Adjustment of $4,000.

3. License and Certification: Loss of license or limited permit to practice medicine in New York State or board certification, if required, may result in removal from your position.
