Job Specifics

Duties Description Bronx Psychiatric Center (BPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission Health Care Equity accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist for their outpatient clinic located in Bronx, NY.

As a Psychiatrist at BPC, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered, and recovery- focused treatments to individuals with mental health symptoms 18 years of age or older; including:

• Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions
• Creating treatment plans including medication management
• Obtaining and reviewing appropriate laboratory tests and consulting with members of treatment team as needed
• Providing individual and group psychotherapy

About BPC:
BPC, a Joint Commission-accredited facility located in Bronx, New York, operates inpatient, outpatient, and residential programs for adults with mental illness and is affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. BPC has 156 inpatient beds spanning six units. BPC’s outpatient programs include one (1) outpatient clinic: White Plains Road Clinic; four (4) Community Service Programs: Health Home Management Coordination (HHMC), Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), Mobile Integration Team (MIT) and Targeted Response Team – Safe Options Support (TRT-SOS); a Residential Village comprised of two (2) Transitional Living Residences (TLR) and a Healing and Vocational Empowerment Network (HAVEN) House; and a Family Care Program.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:

Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

This position is eligible for Downstate Adjustment of $4,000.

If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.

3. Continued employment as a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 is dependent upon current licensure to practice medicine and in the case of Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2, current certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Loss of licensure and certification may result in removal from this position.
