Duties Description
Duties may include but are not limited to:
• Oversee Compliance Specialist Program.
• Coordinate technical assistance Statewide.
• Train and mentor Code Compliance Specialist 2 staff.
• Review program improvements proposed by Code Compliance Specialist 2s.
• Resolve difficult issues and make final recommendations.
• Act as Head of the Training Bureau for the Code Compliance Bureau
o Develop education programs and material
o Revise training curriculum when applicable
o Keeping training curriculum up to date with new rules, regulations, and procedures
o Evaluate the effectiveness of the training program
• Represent the Director in various roles.
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
If a viable eligible list does not exist, a provisional appointment may be made in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next competitive examination and be reachable on the resultant eligible list in order to be considered for permanent appointment to the position.
The minimum requirements for taking the promotional examination are:
You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Transportation and have had three months of permanent competitive, non-competitive, 55-b/55-c, or labor class service as Code Compliance Specialist 2.
In order to be eligible for a provisional appointment candidates must have one year of service described in the Minimum Qualifications for taking the promotional examination.
Additional Comments Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
The salary range listed reflects the full range for this graded position. For new State employees appointed into graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts. ? Continued employment as a Code Compliance Specialist 3 is dependent upon active certification as a Code Enforcement Official pursuant to Title 19 NYCRR Part 434 or Part 1208. Loss of certification will result in removal from employment.
? Travel Requirements: Appointment to certain positions requires extensive travel within a designated area of assignment. Appointees to these positions may be required to operate a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job. If the position requires that you operate a motor vehicle, you must possess a driver's license valid in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter. Field work and travel expenses are reimbursed on a fixed schedule.
