Job Specifics

Duties Description Duties include:
• Manages all aspects of reportable incidents as required by OMH and The Justice Center.
• Investigates serious incidents and conducts special investigations in accordance to oversight guidelines.
• Compiles all investigative materials and reports that is presented to the Incident Review Committee and oversight bodies.
• Will work with various departments to ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Attends and participates in various meetings, committees, and workgroups.
• Is an active participant in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) groups following a near miss or significant event.
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure the continued implementation and compliance of ObservSMART

Additional Shift information: Duties of the position are such that the incumbent will occasionally work beyond the normal workday/workweek and will be required to occasionally respond to serious incidents that occur after normal business hours as well as on weekends and holidays. For this on-call work, the incumbent would receive standby/on-call pay and would also be eligible for overtime pay for work in excess of 40 hours.

Note: The selected candidate will be required to attend the OMH Special Investigator Training.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for the title;

OR

Transfer Opportunity – Candidates must have permanent status as a Secure Care Treatment Aide 2, SG-14, and be eligible for a lateral transfer;

OR

Be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. In order to be eligible for 70.1 transfer, candidates must have at least one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c status in a qualifying title within two salary grades of the SG-14 level.

Employees appointed to a non-competitive position via the NY HELPS program to a qualifying title in the non-competitive class will have their names restricted from appointment from the eligible list until their position is covered-in to the competitive class by action of the New York State Civil Service Commission or otherwise obtain permanent competitive status in the position.

If you have received a permanent appointment to a qualifying title listed and served provisionally in that title immediately preceding your permanent appointment, such provisional service may be counted towards meeting the time in title required for appointment from the eligible list.

OR

For provisional appointment - In the event that there is not a valid eligible list, employees of the New York State Office of Mental Health who have 1 year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, G-11 or Secure Care Treatment Aide 1 (Spanish Language), G-11 may be qualified for provisional appointment.

Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title, and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained.

Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA (ISU) Grade 14 of $56,506, increased hiring rate of $6,928, and geographic pay differential of $4,000. The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate $68,630 and geographic pay differential of $4,000.
