Job Specifics

Duties Description Under the direction of the Chief Budgeting Analyst and Bureau Chief, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for various functions which support Federal grant fiscal reporting and billing. Experience in navigating the new ESA federal billing module in SFS is necessary, as the incumbent will be a resource for troubleshooting data issues, training, and guidance to staff for Federal grant reporting and billing. The incumbent will be responsible for oversight of DEC’s federal grant portfolio of 140+ grants across several federal agencies all with different reporting requirement, have an understanding of Out of State Fire Reimbursements, and may serve as the Department’s liaison to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for claims filed by the Department in the event of a Presidential disaster declaration. They will review grant applications and awards as assigned, review and complete financial reports and communicate with Division staff, Budgeting Staff and other Units as needed to assure timely and accurate requests for reimbursements. The incumbent will be responsible for reconciling of the Department’s federal cash drawings and corresponding federal cash balances. They will be responsible for traditional Accountant duties and assignments including training and supervision, and any other special assignments as requested.

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment

- Currently in the title of Associate Accountant and an employee of DEC

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.

Transfer Eligible – one year of permanent competitive service in a title designated as appropriate for transfer in accordance with Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law.

Eligible for transfer under Section 52.6: Must have current or prior permanent service in a title designated as 52.6 and within two salary grades of this position. Determination of titles that are 52.6 eligible can be found on the Department of Civil Service website, search “GOT-IT” or
