Job Specifics
Duties Description The Health Systems Specialist 2 (Physical Therapy) is the Office of Health Insurance Programs, within the Division of Medical & Dental Directors, in the Bureau for Children with Medical Complexity (BCMC). BCMC is responsible for addressing the needs of children with medical complexity and overseeing Medicaid services that support this population. The Health Systems Specialist 2 (Physical Therapy) will serve as a clinical specialist in the Environmental Modification, Vehicle Modification, Assistive Technology, and Financial Management Services (EMOD/VMOD/AT/FMS) Unit. Duties include: Review environmental and vehicle modification and assistive technology requests and supporting documentation; provide clinical expertise related to these services; coordinate with healthcare providers, vendors, OHIP staff, and other stakeholders; assist with the review and development of policies, procedures, guidance, and educational materials; participate in program and quality improvement activities to align organizational goals and objectives and improve program outcomes; research emerging services, technologies, and coding related to complex rehabilitation and assistive technology; and prepare correspondence and other program documentation.
Minimum Qualifications Competitive Minimum Qualifiications:
Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current DOH employee with permanent status as a Health Systems Specialist 2 (PT), G-20 OR Current New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a position G-18 or higher, and eligible for 70.4 transfer
Non-Competitive Qualifications:
Possession of New York State license and current registration as a physical therapist and two years of experience in the following areas: providing clinical services in a licensed healthcare facility or program, or utilizing clinical knowledge in the review or oversight of clinical services for reimbursement or quality assurance purposes.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience and knowledge in the following areas will be beneficial: working with children or individuals with complex medical needs; environmental or vehicle modifications; assistive technology and complex rehabilitation equipment; review of medical records or service requests; working with healthcare providers and vendors; and Medicaid or other health care programs. Pediatric experience and/or ATP (Assistive Technology Practitioner) credentials are preferred but not required.
