52.6 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS: You may qualify for transfer if you have one year of permanent competitive service in a title allocated to a Grade 27/M-2 or above and your title is
designated “Administrative” under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Transfer candidates must also possess a law degree from an accredited college or university and be able to provide evidence of current registration to practice law in New York State.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Counsel and the Deputy Counsel, the Associate Attorney performs complex and difficult professional legal work involving a high degree of sensitivity and responsibility as the Department’s legal specialist in the administration and enforcement of the Department’s Unemployment Insurance and Employment and Workforce Solutions programs. The Associate Attorney is responsible for managing the Senior Attorneys assigned to the Federal Programs Unit and their workloads. As part of these duties, the Associate Attorney is regularly called upon to provide legal analysis and recommendation regarding legislative, regulatory, and a broad range of inquiries and requests generated by programs areas, agency leadership, and the executive chamber.
